Edible Campus UNC
This program was designed to increase knowledge of food and agriculture sustainability as well as provide gardening space for the UNC community. There are a variety of gardens spread across campus that are packed with fruits, vegetables, herbs, perennials and annuals. Not only does Edible Campus work to find innovative ways to unify the community, but they also empower the public to think about healthy food habits.
The Carolina Community Garden
The original goal of this garden was to supply food for Carolina housekeepers and others in the campus community. Although they briefly adjusted these efforts during COVID-19 to tend to pandemic workers, they have continued their main goal: the housekeepers. During the summer/fall of 2020, UNC gardeners harvested over 3,500lbs of food. The garden as a whole has been a huge success, and more volunteers are welcome at any time.
